Tōkaidō or “Eastern Sea Route” was a collection of roads connecting Kyoto with what is now known as Tokyo in the Edo period of Japan. This set of 5 wooden chopsticks features illustrations inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji”, and Utagawa Hiroshige’s “Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road” – Renowned collections of Ukiyo-e paintings depicting scenes from across South-East coast of Japan; Kage carts being carried across bridges, Ferrymen taking passengers across rivers, and perhaps the most renowned from the collection, a number of vistas depicting the spiritual center of Honshu: Mount Fuji. The chopsticks are coated in black and red with a deep, glossy finish. This set is perfect for special occasions, or even as an artistic display piece, and comes packaged in a sophisticated black gift and display box with Omotenashi branding. Designed and made in Japan.
